Operatives of the Ondo State Police Command have arrested three suspected members of an interstate armed robbery syndicate and recovered dangerous weapons during an intelligence-led operation.
The suspects, identified as Promise Daniel (34), Ifeanyi Umahi (29), and Adaramoye Abayomi (37), were apprehended over the weekend during a stop-and-search operation while travelling in a Mercedes-Benz ML 350 SUV.
According to the Commissioner of Police in Ondo State, Felix Ohagwu, the suspects were intercepted based on credible intelligence and sustained surveillance.
He disclosed that the arrest is linked to an armed robbery incident reported on June 14, 2026, at Iju Division, Ita-Ogbolu, in Akure North Local Government Area.

Items recovered from the suspects include one AK-47 rifle with a magazine loaded with 18 rounds of live ammunition, an English-made Beretta pistol loaded with four rounds, a UTC axe, and an iron cutter.
Ohagwu described the arrest as a significant breakthrough in the Command’s ongoing efforts to combat violent crime across the state and beyond. He added that the suspects had been on the police watchlist prior to their capture.
“Acting on credible intelligence, our operatives successfully intercepted the suspects. During interrogation, they made useful confessional statements regarding the ownership of the weapons and their involvement in multiple criminal activities,” he said.
The Commissioner further noted that information obtained from the suspects is currently aiding efforts to track down other fleeing members of the syndicate and uncover the full extent of their operations across Ondo and Lagos States.
Investigations are ongoing.
