A worker narrowly escaped death after being rescued alive from beneath a collapsed fence wall during a demolition exercise in Kano State.
The incident occurred on Sunday at Kofar Mata Zango, within the Kano Municipal Local Government Area, when a structure undergoing demolition suddenly gave way, trapping one of the workers on site.
According to a statement released by the Kano State Fire Service Public Relations Officer, ACFO Saminu Yusif Abdullahi, the agency received a distress call at about 8:49 a.m. from a resident, Naziru Ahmad, who reported the emergency.
Responding swiftly, firefighters from the service headquarters arrived at the scene to find that a residential building measuring approximately 30 by 20 feet was being demolished when the fence wall became unstable and collapsed.

The trapped worker, identified as Sadiq Ahmad, was attempting to escape when he was caught under the debris.
Emergency responders immediately commenced rescue operations and successfully pulled him out alive.
He was promptly taken to Murtala Muhammed Specialist Hospital for medical attention and later handed over to his brother.
Authorities confirmed that the cause of the collapse is still under investigation.
The Fire Service has since urged residents, contractors, and construction workers to strictly adhere to safety precautions during demolition and building activities to prevent avoidable accidents.
