
The Bauchi State Police Command has ordered a full investigation into the alleged torture and killing of a 20-year-old man by officers attached to a police outpost under the Misau Division in Misau Local Government Area.
The victim, identified as Abdullahi Adamu, a resident of Sebore Village in Hardawa District, reportedly died on Sunday, July 12, 2026, while receiving treatment at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, Bauchi.
According to a statement issued on Tuesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Habib, the command became aware of the incident following reports circulating on social media alleging that the young man was assaulted during interrogation in connection with an ongoing case.
Habib explained that the victim was initially admitted to the Federal Medical Centre, Misau, before being referred to the teaching hospital where he later died.

Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, expressed concern over the allegations and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to professionalism, human rights, and due process.
He has since ordered a full-scale investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident, assuring the public that any officer found culpable will face appropriate disciplinary and legal action in accordance with the law.
The police command also extended condolences to the family of the deceased and urged members of the public with relevant information to come forward to assist with the ongoing investigation.
