
The Jigawa State Police Command has arrested eight suspects and recovered stolen property, vandalised electrical cables, livestock and thousands of illicit drugs during a series of intelligence-led operations across the state.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Shi’isu Adam, said the operations were part of ongoing efforts to combat crime, protect lives and property, and prevent criminals from operating within the state.
According to him, police operatives arrested three suspects in Dutse over the vandalism and theft of electrical cables. Investigations also led to the arrest of alleged receivers of the stolen items. The suspects are expected to face prosecution after investigations are concluded.
In a separate operation, officers arrested a 23-year-old suspect from Kano State found with a PlayStation 5 console and two plasma television sets believed to have been stolen. The recovered items, valued at about ₦2.5 million, were returned to their rightful owners, while the suspect remains under investigation.

The command also arrested a suspected cattle rustler in Guri Local Government Area after acting on credible intelligence. Three stolen cows were recovered from the suspect’s residence and handed back to their owner, while efforts continue to identify other members of the alleged syndicate.
Meanwhile, coordinated raids targeting drug hotspots in Dutse, Gumel and Kazaure led to the arrest of three suspected drug dealers. Police recovered 3,427 assorted illicit drugs, including tramadol, pregabalin, Exol tablets, Indian hemp and other substances, along with ₦100,660 suspected to be proceeds from drug sales.
The police said all suspects will be charged in court upon the completion of investigations, reaffirming the command’s commitment to tackling criminal activities across Jigawa State.
