A suspected bandit was killed after security operatives foiled an attack on Daraye Village in Wamako Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
The Sokoto State Police Command said the operation followed a distress call received at about 1:35 a.m. on Saturday, reporting that a large group of armed bandits had invaded the community.
In response, operatives from the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, the Village Crime Reduction Unit and other tactical teams were deployed to reinforce officers at the Wamako Divisional Headquarters.

According to the police, the security teams engaged the attackers in a fierce gun battle, forcing the attackers to abandon their mission and flee into nearby forests with gunshot wounds.
A subsequent search of the area led to the recovery of one AK-47 rifle, a magazine loaded with 28 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition, and the killing of one suspected bandit.
The command said confidence-building patrols have been intensified across the area to reassure residents and prevent further attacks, while neighbouring police divisions have been placed on alert to intercept fleeing suspects seeking medical treatment.
The Commissioner of Police, Hayatu Shaffa, praised the officers for their bravery and professionalism, assuring residents that the police, in collaboration with other security agencies, would continue operations against banditry to ensure the safety of lives and property across Sokoto State.
