
The Kebbi State Hisbah Agency has arrested three underage Qur’anic school pupils, commonly referred to as Almajirai, over alleged possession of hard drugs.
The development was disclosed by the agency’s Director of Da’awa and Public Awareness, Malam Sirajo Usman Kamba, during a media briefing in Birnin Kebbi.
According to Kamba, preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects, aged between 10 and 13 years, are from Niger State and Maiyama Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
He stated that the agency has launched a comprehensive investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident, including the possible involvement or negligence of the children’s parents and teachers.

Kamba expressed concern over the increasing exposure of minors to harmful substances and other social vices, describing the trend as alarming.
He, however, assured that the agency would prioritize the welfare of the children while taking necessary steps to rehabilitate and guide them away from negative influences.
The Hisbah official reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to upholding moral values and protecting children across the state.
The suspects remain in the custody of the agency as investigations continue.
