The Ondo State Security Network Agency, popularly known as Amotekun Corps, has arrested a father and his three sons over their alleged involvement in a kidnapping operation in the state.
The suspects a 56-year-old man identified as Iliasu and his sons, Usman (33), Wahab (27), and Yakubu (18) were apprehended in connection with the abduction of a victim in Oba Akoko, located in Akoko South-West Local Government Area of Ondo State.
The State Commander of the Amotekun Corps, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, disclosed the development at the corps’ headquarters in Akure. He revealed that the suspects had been under surveillance since 2024 for alleged kidnapping activities in the Northern Senatorial District.
According to Adeleye, the suspects reportedly used cattle rearing as a cover for their criminal operations. He explained that the victim was kidnapped while traveling to Oba Akoko, and although the family paid a ransom without initially informing security operatives, the kidnappers refused to release the victim.
“The suspects collected the ransom and still held on to the victim while issuing threats to the family against reporting the case,” Adeleye stated.
He added that following a report to the Amotekun Corps, operatives launched a swift rescue operation. During the process, the suspects allegedly attacked the operatives, but the victim was successfully rescued.

Items recovered from the suspects included drugs, alcoholic beverages, cigarettes, and a blindfold believed to have been used on the victim.
In a broader crackdown, the Amotekun Corps also arrested 24 other individuals linked to various criminal offences across the state, including kidnapping, armed banditry, robbery, rape, theft, and breach of peace.
The commander reiterated the agency’s commitment to ensuring the safety of residents, stressing that there is no hiding place for criminals in Ondo State.
“The Amotekun Corps remains strategically positioned across the state to guarantee that residents and commuters can go about their lawful activities without fear,” he said.
