
Operatives of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, popularly known as Amotekun Corps, have arrested a couple in connection with a burglary at the country home of a former Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly in Okitipupa Local Government Area.
The suspects, identified as 28-year-old Samson Osowe and his 22-year-old wife, Ayo Oguneso, were apprehended following an intelligence-led operation that traced the stolen items to a transporter preparing to move them out of the town to Lagos for sale.
During the operation, Amotekun officers recovered seven mobile phones and other valuables reportedly stolen from the residence.
The security outfit also foiled attempts to smuggle the items out of the state.
Authorities disclosed that an accomplice involved in the transportation process has also been arrested and is currently in custody, following confessions obtained from the suspects.
Speaking while parading the suspects, the State Commander of the Amotekun Corps confirmed that the recovered items were intact and would be returned to the rightful owner through due legal process.

He added that the suspects would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
The burglary, which occurred late at night, reportedly involved forced entry, with several windows in the residence damaged during the incident.
Reacting to the development, the victim commended the swift response and professionalism of the Amotekun Corps, describing their efforts as commendable in tackling insecurity within the state.
She further reiterated the call for the establishment of state police across Nigeria, citing the effectiveness of local security outfits like Amotekun in curbing crime at the grassroots level.
Investigations into the case are ongoing.
