Overnight Candle Sparks Fire, Destroys Four Rooms in Kwara Church after a fire outbreak triggered by a candle left burning overnight damaged part of a church building in Ilorin, Kwara State, on Tuesday morning.
The incident occurred at a church located in the Tanke area of the state capital, where flames engulfed sections of the boys’ quarters and affected four rooms before emergency responders brought the situation under control.
Firefighters were alerted to the incident in the early hours of the day and promptly moved to the scene to prevent the blaze from spreading to other buildings within the church premises and nearby properties.
Preliminary findings indicated that the fire started after a candle used for illumination was left unattended overnight. The open flame reportedly ignited combustible materials inside one of the rooms, leading to the outbreak.
Emergency responders successfully contained the flames and limited the extent of the damage, preventing a more devastating incident.
