
Two suspected cultists were wounded and 25 others arrested after operatives of the Delta State Police Command’s Violent Crime Response Unit, VCRU, raided an alleged initiation ground in Agbarho.
The operation took place in the early hours of June 16, 2026, following credible intelligence that members of the Eiye Confraternity, linked to recent killings in Agbor, were planning further violence and initiating new members.

According to Police Public Relations Officer SP Bright Edafe, officers came under fire on arrival and responded professionally. Two suspects sustained gunshot injuries during the exchange.
Police recovered one pump-action shotgun and one cut-to-size firearm from the scene. The injured suspects are receiving medical treatment, and investigations are ongoing.
