
Troops of the Nigerian Army, working with the DSS, NSCDC, and Immigration, have arrested 46 suspected illegal immigrants in Ogun State.
The suspects, 36 men and 10 women, were picked up in Ijebu Imushin, Ijebu Ilese, and surrounding communities on Thursday, June 12, 2026, following actionable intelligence.
According to the Assistant Director Army Public Relations, 35 Artillery Brigade, Major Idereghi Akari, the group includes 18 nationals from Burkina Faso, 23 from Côte d’Ivoire, 4 from Togo, and 1 from Senegal.
Preliminary investigations showed they had been living in the state for about six months without valid immigration documents.

During interrogation, the suspects said they were merchants and workers linked to QNet, an online marketing platform that sells various goods.
The suspects have been handed over to the Nigeria Immigration Service, Ogun State Command, for further investigation and appropriate action under immigration laws.
Commander of the 35 Artillery Brigade, Brigadier General Friday Onu, praised the troops and other agencies for their professionalism. He urged residents to remain security conscious and report suspicious activities to the authorities.
Onu said the operation highlights the Army’s commitment to tackling illegal migration, improving internal security, and protecting national interests.
