The Bauchi State Police Command has rescued a four-year-old boy and arrested two suspected kidnappers in a swift intelligence-led operation.
Police spokesperson SP Nafiu Habib said detectives from the State Intelligence Department acted on a complaint filed on June 10, 2026, by a 45-year-old father from Gida Dudu Housing Estate. The father reported that his son, Musa, was abducted from the front of their home.
Investigations showed that one suspect, 39-year-old Muhammad Usman, lured the child away on June 9 and took him to the home of 40-year-old Hayatudeen Ahmad, who lives in the same estate. Usman allegedly deceived Ahmad by claiming the boy was his sister’s son and that she was critically ill.

Police said Usman later wrote a ransom note demanding N5 million from the family and attached a phone number for payment. The boy has since been reunited with his family, while both suspects remain in custody and are cooperating with investigators.
Bauchi Commissioner of Police, CP Aliyu Sani-Omolori, commended the detectives for their professionalism and prompt response. He also urged parents and guardians to educate children against trusting strangers, stay vigilant, and report any suspicious activity involving minors to the nearest police station immediately.
