
A joint security task force in Ekiti State has successfully rescued two kidnap victims and apprehended a suspected member of a kidnapping syndicate during a coordinated bush-combing operation.
The victims, identified as 35-year-old Iorfa Solomon and 37-year-old Blessing Kingsley, were found held captive in a forest located along the Ekiti–Kogi border.
They were rescued unharmed.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Sunday Abutu, the operation involved a collaborative effort between the police, military personnel, Amotekun Corps, and local vigilantes.
The team discovered a kidnappers’ hideout within the forest between Irele-Ekiti in Ekiti State and Ogbe in Kogi State.
Abutu revealed that the kidnappers engaged security operatives in a gun duel upon sighting them. During the exchange, one suspect, identified as Abubakar Kabiru, was arrested, while other members of the gang fled the scene.

Preliminary investigations showed that the victims were abducted on June 4, 2026, at about 9:00 p.m. while on duty at Aluta Bar in Ikoyi, Kogi State.
The attackers, reportedly armed and numbering about eight, stormed the premises, fired gunshots into the air, and forcefully took the victims into the forest.
During interrogation, the arrested suspect allegedly confessed to participating in the crime and identified the rescued individuals as victims of the gang.
The victims also confirmed Kabiru as one of their abductors.
Security agencies have launched a manhunt for the remaining seven suspects who are currently at large.
The Ekiti State Commissioner of Police, Michael Falade, has urged residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies by providing timely information to help combat criminal activities across the state. ::
