Security forces have rescued several kidnap victims following an operation in the Byazhin area of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), according to FCT Police Commissioner Ahmed Sanusi.
Speaking after the operation, Sanusi said law enforcement officers acted on credible intelligence indicating that kidnappers had been operating in the area. He noted that officers launched a targeted operation and waited for the suspects to arrive.
“We brought the war to them. Yesterday, we were lucky. The kidnappers have been coming in from this area. We got proper intelligence, we activated it, and we came here waiting for them,” Sanusi said.
The police commissioner added that security personnel engaged the suspects during the operation, resulting in some being neutralised while others were arrested. He also confirmed that the kidnapped victims were successfully rescued.
“Luck ran out on them; we neutralised some, apprehended some, and the victims were liberated,” he said.
Authorities have not yet disclosed the number of suspects killed or arrested, nor the number of victims rescued. Investigations are ongoing as security agencies continue efforts to combat kidnapping and related crimes across the FCT.
The operation marks another step in ongoing security efforts aimed at dismantling criminal networks and improving safety in communities affected by abductions and banditry.
