Operatives of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command have arrested three suspects seen in a viral video circulating on social media, where individuals were dressed in military camouflage and brandishing firearms in Abuja.
The police said the arrests followed a swift digital forensic investigation and intelligence-led operation triggered immediately after the disturbing footage surfaced online.
According to the FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, officers were directed to trace and identify all persons connected to the video after it gained public attention.
Acting on the directive, operatives of the Police VCRU Sector 5 in collaboration with personnel of the Zuba Division carried out a coordinated raid at Runji Village, Zuba, where the suspects were tracked to their hideout and arrested.
The suspects were identified as Umar Babangida, Adamu Yeti, and Yahaya Idris, all reportedly from Rijana in Kaduna State.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects had previously been in possession of AK-47 rifles allegedly supplied by a gang leader known as “Esco,” who is currently at large.

Recovered items include one AK-47 rifle loaded with 30 rounds of live ammunition, several mobile phones, jackknives, power banks, and other items believed to be linked to criminal activities.
The police stated that efforts are ongoing to arrest other members of the syndicate and recover more weapons in circulation.
The command reiterated its commitment to tackling armed crime and warned against the misuse of military uniforms and illegal possession of firearms.
Daily Post Nigeria reports that the operation is part of intensified security measures aimed at reducing violent crime within the Federal Capital Territory.
