Operatives of the Zamfara State Police Command have successfully rescued three teenage boys who were abducted earlier this year, following a coordinated security operation in the Bingi Forest area of Maru Local Government Area.
The rescue mission, carried out on May 31, 2026, involved a joint patrol team comprising the Police Mobile Force, the Violent Crime Response Unit, and members of the Community Protection Guard.
The team reportedly discovered the victims wandering within the forest during a routine confidence-building patrol in the area.
According to the police spokesperson, Yazid Abubakar, the rescued victims identified as Yusuf Ibrahim (15), Basiru Yusuf (17), and Mubarak Ibrahim (18)—revealed during debriefing that they had been abducted in February 2026 from Marabe Village in Tsafe Local Government Area.
The victims explained that they managed to escape from their captors before encountering the patrol team that facilitated their rescue.

The Zamfara State Police Command reiterated its commitment to intensifying security operations across the state, emphasizing ongoing efforts to rescue kidnapped victims and discourage the payment of ransom to criminal elements.
This development comes amid rising concerns over the increasing rate of abductions across parts of Nigeria, particularly involving children and students.
Authorities have urged residents to remain vigilant and continue providing credible information to security agencies to support ongoing efforts in combating insecurity.
