The Lagos State Security Trust Fund has partnered with the Lagos State Police Command and the Nigeria Police Air Wing to launch aerial surveillance patrols across the state in a bid to strengthen security and reassure residents.
According to the LSSTF Executive Secretary, Ayodele Ogunsan, the patrols were carried out on Friday across both the mainland and island corridors. The exercise provided real-time situational awareness and supported intelligence-led operations aimed at deterring crime and improving response times.
Ogunsan described the initiative as a proactive step to enhance public safety and protect lives and property. He said the aerial patrols would become a regular part of Lagos’ security architecture, following a successful first run that received positive feedback from residents.

He noted that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu had directed security agencies to assure Lagosians that the state remains safe despite security concerns in other parts of the country. “This is a message of hope, comfort, encouragement, and assurance that you have a caring leader who has security paramount in his heart,” Ogunsan said.
The LSSTF boss urged residents not to panic over the increased presence of surveillance aircraft, explaining that the flights were part of a coordinated effort to secure land, sea, and air routes. He added that the state would continue to complement federal efforts through joint operations across all domains.
Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Fatai Tijani, said the operation was designed to boost public confidence and send a clear message to criminals that there is no hiding place. “By hovering around the state, we know there is no hiding place for criminals on land, sea, and now in the air,” he said.
