Nollywood actress and filmmaker Iyabo Ojo has condemned the abduction of school children in Oyo State, calling out the Federal Government for its handling of the crisis.
Speaking during a live appearance on a follow-up posts on Instagram, Ojo described the perpetrators as “demons, not human beings.” She said it was painful that on a day meant to celebrate children, Nigerians were instead talking about kidnappings.
“It is painful that on a day meant to celebrate children, we are talking about abductions. The government needs to act now or bring in external help. We cannot continue like this,” she said.
In a separate Instagram post, Ojo contrasted Children’s Day celebrations with the reality of children still in captivity. She questioned how the country could mark the occasion while innocent pupils remained with kidnappers.

“Happy Children’s Day to the children in captivity? How do we celebrate while innocent kids are in the hands of kidnappers? This is a national shame. Our leaders must stop playing politics with lives,” she wrote.
The actress urged Nigerians not to stay silent, warning that normalizing violence only makes the situation worse. She called for immediate action to secure the release of the abducted pupils and teachers from Oriire Local Government Area.
Ojo’s remarks add to a wave of reactions from Nigerian celebrities who marked Children’s Day on May 27, 2026, by demanding urgent government intervention in the Oyo school abduction case.
