
The Adamawa State Police Command has rescued a kidnapped man and recovered weapons during a security operation in Song Local Government Area of the state.
The victim, identified as Alhaji Sidiki Isah, was abducted from Tambo Village in Girei Local Government Area by suspected kidnappers who reportedly demanded a ransom of N90 million from his family.
According to the command’s spokesperson, SP Suleiman Nguroje, security operatives launched the operation after receiving intelligence that the victim was being held hostage at Luro Mountain.
Acting on the directive of the Commissioner of Police, CP Kabir Umar Hassan, the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, alongside members of the Civilian Joint Task Force, stormed the hideout using geospatial intelligence to track the suspects.

Nguroje explained that the security team surrounded the mountainous area, but the kidnappers opened fire immediately they noticed the operatives approaching.
The police team reportedly engaged the suspects in a gun battle and successfully overpowered them. During the exchange, two suspected kidnappers were killed, while others escaped into nearby bushes with gunshot wounds.
The kidnapped victim was rescued unharmed and later reunited with his family.
Security operatives also recovered two AK-47 rifles, 17 rounds of live ammunition, a mobile phone and charms from the scene.
The police spokesperson added that officers were still combing the area to arrest the fleeing suspects and recover more weapons.
Commending the operatives for their bravery, the Commissioner of Police reaffirmed the command’s commitment to tackling kidnapping, armed robbery and other violent crimes across Adamawa State.
