Popular Nigerian rapper and activist, Falz, has reacted angrily to the recent kidnapping of schoolchildren in Oyo State, lamenting that Children’s Day in Nigeria was overshadowed by fear, pain, and insecurity.
The singer, whose real name is Folarin Falana, made the emotional remarks in a video shared on his social media platforms, where he condemned the worsening security situation in the country and criticized what he described as government inaction.
According to Falz, what should have been a joyful celebration for children across Nigeria instead became “a completely miserable day” following reports that over 40 people, mostly nursery and primary school pupils, were abducted in Oyo State.
Expressing deep frustration, the rapper said, “Children are being tortured while leaders campaign,” as he questioned the priority of political leaders amid the growing insecurity in the country.
Falz also alleged that disturbing videos circulating online showed the kidnapped children being flogged and tortured by their captors.
He further claimed that the abductors reportedly recorded themselves carrying out the abuse, including the alleged killing of a teacher during the attack.

The music star criticized the Nigerian government for what he described as repeated promises without visible results.
“As usual, they’ll make announcements saying they are making efforts,” he said, expressing doubt over the effectiveness of government responses to insecurity.
According to him, Nigerians continue to suffer kidnappings, killings, and violent attacks despite repeated assurances from authorities.
Falz further condemned ongoing political campaigns and re-election discussions, insisting that leaders should focus more on protecting lives and restoring public safety.
He also expressed disappointment in citizens who continue to defend political leaders despite the worsening situation, stressing that silence and normalcy in the face of tragedy only encourage the crisis.
While admitting that he may not have all the solutions to Nigeria’s security challenges, Falz emphasized the need for awareness, accountability, and collective action from citizens.
The Oyo kidnapping incident has since sparked outrage online, with many Nigerians calling for urgent government intervention and stronger security measures to protect children and vulnerable communities across the country.
