The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has officially announced that its 2026 internal primaries will commence on May 28, following adjustments to its earlier electoral preparations.
The party also confirmed that it has abandoned plans to use an electronic voting system, citing limited time for full deployment and testing.
According to party officials, the decision to revert to manual voting was taken after a series of consultations with regional executives and the electoral committee, who raised concerns about logistics, training, and system readiness ahead of the primaries.

A senior party source explained that while the e-voting initiative was introduced to improve transparency and speed up the voting process, the compressed timetable made it difficult to guarantee a smooth rollout across all constituencies.
The party therefore opted for a more traditional voting method to avoid technical disruptions during the exercise.
The primaries are expected to produce candidates for various elective positions ahead of the 2026 general election cycle, with heightened competition anticipated across key constituencies.
Party leadership has assured members that the process will remain transparent and credible despite the change in voting method. It also urged stakeholders to remain calm and support the revised arrangements, emphasizing unity and internal democracy as the primaries approach.
Further details regarding the schedule and guidelines for the primaries are expected to be released in the coming days.
