
Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have arrested a commercial motorcyclist, Kelvin Ogaga, for allegedly abducting a three-year-old girl in the Ughelli area of the state.
The suspect, who had been entrusted with conveying the child to and from school, reportedly kidnapped the girl and demanded a ransom of ₦500,000 from her family. Following negotiations, the family paid the ransom to secure the child’s release.
Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, disclosed that the arrest was made after the victim’s father lodged a complaint on May 18, 2026.
Acting on credible intelligence, police operatives tracked and stormed the suspect’s hideout in Ughelli, leading to his arrest.
Items recovered from the suspect include ₦127,000 believed to be part of the ransom money, valuables allegedly purchased with proceeds of the crime, and the motorcycle used in carrying out the abduction.
The suspect is currently in custody, while investigations continue.
In a separate operation, police operatives on stop-and-search duty along the Power Line axis by Bonsaac recovered a Beretta pistol and an iPhone from a fleeing suspect.

The individual abandoned the items while escaping from the scene, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend him.
Similarly, officers attached to the Ozoro Division arrested a suspected cultist, identified as Michael Monday, during a patrol along Omovutotu Street in Ozoro.
A search of his belongings led to the recovery of a locally made cut-to-size single-barrelled gun and a cartridge. Preliminary findings link him to the Supreme Vikings Confraternity, also known as ‘Aro Bagger.’
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Yemi Oyeniyi, commended the operatives for their swift response and reiterated the command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property.
He also emphasized the importance of proactive policing strategies, including stop-and-search operations, in curbing criminal activities and recovering illegal weapons.
The police assured residents of continued efforts to ensure security across the state.
