The Accident Scene
A tragic road accident has claimed the life of a pedestrian after he was struck by a Toyota Coaster bus along the Imowo–Ibadan Road inward Ijebu Ode in Ogun State.
The incident, which occurred around 4:45 p.m. on Sunday, led to heavy traffic congestion along the busy corridor, according to officials of the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE).
TRACE spokesperson, Babatunde Akinbiyi, confirmed that the accident happened when the pedestrian attempted to cross the road without properly checking for oncoming vehicles.
The impact proved fatal, resulting in the immediate death of the male victim.
Authorities noted that the section of the road had been placed under a single-lane diversion due to ongoing rehabilitation works, a situation that contributed to traffic buildup after the crash.

Emergency responders from the Ogun State Ambulance Service evacuated the remains of the deceased to the General Hospital mortuary in Ijebu Ode.
The accidented bus was later removed from the road and taken to the Police Area Command in Igbeba for further investigation.
Officials confirmed that normal vehicular movement was restored after the clearance operation.
The incident adds to a growing concern over road safety along major highways in Ogun State, as authorities continue to urge pedestrians and motorists to exercise caution, especially in construction and diversion zones.
