
The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 60-year-old man, identified as Musa Garba, over the alleged defilement of a nine-year-old girl in Magama Gumau, located in Toro Local Government Area of the state.
The incident was disclosed in an official statement by the Command’s spokesperson, CSP Nafiu Habib, on Thursday.
According to the police, the case was reported at the Toro Divisional Police Headquarters by the victim’s father, who alleged that his daughter was lured into a secluded location by the suspect on May 7, 2026, at about 4:00 p.m.
Following the report, detectives attached to the division promptly arrested the suspect. During interrogation, the suspect reportedly confessed to the crime and admitted to carrying out similar acts on multiple occasions involving the same victim.
Both the victim and the suspect were subsequently taken to the General Hospital in Toro for medical examination and necessary treatment.

Further investigations revealed that the victim also accused another individual, identified only as Nafi’u, of involvement in a separate incident.
The suspect is currently at large, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend him.
The arrested suspect has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Bauchi for further investigation and prosecution.
Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, strongly condemned the act and reiterated the command’s zero-tolerance stance on crimes involving children and all forms of Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV).
He urged parents and guardians to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities promptly to security agencies.
The police command assured the public that justice will be pursued diligently and in accordance with due process.
