
Bandits suspected to be Fulani herdsmen have killed at least two illegal miners in an attack on a mining site in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The incident occurred around 1:30 p.m. on May 11 at Kedawa village. Sources told security analyst Zagazola Makama that the gunmen stormed the site and opened fire on the miners before fleeing the scene.
Troops of Operation Enduring Peace, OPEP, Sector 4, Sub-Sector 41 Gashish, responded quickly after receiving reports of the attack. On arrival, they recovered the bodies of two victims identified as Mr. Napan Danjuma and Mr. Leba. The soldiers also rescued one other person from the site.

The assailants had already fled before the troops arrived, according to the sources.
Plateau State has continued to witness recurring attacks on rural communities and mining areas, raising concerns over the security of residents and illegal mining activities in the region.
