Arsenal legend Ian Wright believes Mikel Arteta’s current side will go down as the club’s greatest ever team if they complete the double by winning both the Premier League and Champions League this season.
Speaking on Sky Sports after Arsenal’s 1-0 victory over West Ham United on Sunday, Wright said the 2025/26 squad has the quality to achieve what even Arsène Wenger’s Invincibles did not. He argued that lifting both major trophies would put Arteta’s team ahead of the 2003/04 side that went unbeaten in the league.
“I would put them above the Invincibles because this team has the capability of being invincible in the Champions League and to win the Premier League as well,” Wright said.
“As great as that Invincible team was and the individuals they had, this team will surpass them with what they’ve done because they’ll have done something that not even that great team did.”

Wright added that if Arsenal can finish the job, there should be no debate about their place in the club’s history.
“If they can finish it off, which I am praying they can, of course, they’ve to go down as Arsenal’s best team in history,” he said.
The Gunners remain in contention for both the Premier League title and a deep run in the Champions League, with Arteta’s side praised for its balance, resilience, and ability to win tight matches.
