A notorious bandit leader identified as “Mala’ikan Mada”, also known as Kachalla Haire, has been killed during a violent clash between rival armed groups in Zamfara State.
Security sources and a report shared by analyst Zagazola Makama on X on Sunday revealed that the incident occurred on May 8, following a disagreement between two bandit factions over the sharing of valuables allegedly linked to a deceased gang leader.
The disagreement reportedly escalated into a fierce gun battle between the rival groups, leading to the death of Haire, who was a prominent figure within one of the factions, along with several other fighters.

According to local accounts, the late bandit leader had been operating around the Mada axis in Gusau Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
He was allegedly linked to a series of violent activities, including attacks, kidnappings, and killings that had long troubled residents in the area.
Following the incident, some residents in affected communities reportedly expressed relief, describing him as one of the key actors responsible for insecurity and fear in the region.
The development is said to highlight ongoing internal conflicts among armed groups in Zamfara and other parts of Nigeria’s North-West, even as security forces continue intensified operations aimed at weakening bandit networks through coordinated military actions and intelligence-driven raids.
