The Kebbi State Hisbah Board has released two women who were earlier arrested in the Badariya area of Birnin Kebbi over allegations of indecent dressing, following counselling on modesty and community values.
The Director of the Board, Surajo Usman, confirmed the development in a statement issued on Sunday in Birnin Kebbi.
He said the case began after residents of the area reported that some women living in a house within the community were dressing in a way considered inappropriate and were occasionally seen outside in such attire.
Following the complaints received on Friday, May 8, Hisbah officials were deployed to investigate the matter and verify the claims, which led to the arrest of two women suspected to be involved.

During interrogation, the women reportedly admitted to the incident but explained that their choice of clothing was influenced by the extreme heat, saying it was for comfort and ventilation rather than any intention to cause offence.
Usman stated that the women later expressed remorse and pledged not to repeat the behaviour.
He added that they were counselled on the importance of modest dressing, morality, and respect for religious and cultural values before being released.
The Hisbah Board also urged residents to continue promoting good moral conduct and cooperate with authorities in maintaining peace and discipline within the community.
