
A coordinated manhunt has been launched by security operatives following the abduction of six students from the Faculty of Engineering at Nasarawa State University, Keffi.
The incident occurred on Wednesday night when suspected gunmen stormed a students’ lodge located in Anguwar Ninzo, Gudi area, on the outskirts of the community. The attackers reportedly invaded the residence and forcefully took away the victims.
According to the Nasarawa State Police Command, a distress call was received around 9:00 p.m. on May 6, 2026, alerting authorities to the attack.
The victims have been identified as students of the university, along with one additional individual who was said to be visiting at the time of the incident.

In response, the Commissioner of Police visited the scene to assess the situation and assured residents and the university community that efforts are underway to secure the safe release of those abducted.
Security has since been intensified in the area, with a joint task force comprising the police, military, Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and local vigilante groups deployed to track down the perpetrators.
Authorities have also redeployed senior officers to coordinate field operations as the search continues.
Residents have been urged to remain calm but vigilant, and to report any useful information that could aid the rescue mission to the nearest security agency.
