
A 30-year-old man has been arrested by operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the Ogun State Police Command over the alleged abduction and killing of a 16-year-old girl, identified as Adegbaaju Florence, in the Ogijo area of Sagamu Local Government Area.
The suspect, identified as Bayegun Nathaniel, was accused of kidnapping the teenager on April 8, 2026, and later demanding a ransom of ₦500,000 from her family.
Despite allegedly receiving the ransom, the suspect was said to have killed the victim and disposed of her body in a river within the community.
The incident reportedly triggered an intensive investigation by the police, who activated an Anti-Kidnapping response team immediately after the case was reported.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, detectives carried out sustained intelligence-led operations that eventually led to the arrest of the suspect on May 2, 2026.
He added that efforts are ongoing to recover the victim’s remains for forensic analysis as part of the investigation.
The Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, described the incident as tragic and assured the public that justice would be served.
He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to ensuring the safety of residents and bringing all perpetrators of violent crimes to justice.
Police say investigations are still ongoing.
