Nigerian troops have rescued three kidnapped victims and foiled several terrorist attacks during a series of intelligence-led operations across Kaduna and Zamfara states.
The military said the operations were carried out by troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA as part of ongoing efforts to combat terrorism, banditry, and kidnapping in the North-West region.
In Kaduna State, soldiers responded to reports of armed bandits moving through a forest area in Igabi Local Government Area. During the operation, two women and a one-year-old child were rescued after they were abandoned by their captors, who fled upon sighting the advancing troops.
The victims were immediately taken to a healthcare facility for treatment and assessment. Preliminary investigations revealed that they had been abducted from their community several weeks earlier and were being transported to a terrorist hideout before their rescue.
In a separate operation in Zamfara State, troops working with other security agencies successfully prevented a planned terrorist attack on a community in Gummi Local Government Area.
Acting on credible intelligence, security personnel laid an ambush and engaged the attackers, forcing them to retreat. Several weapons, ammunition, motorcycles, and food supplies were recovered during the operation.

Another suspected terrorist was apprehended after troops discovered inconsistencies in his identity and account of his activities. Authorities said investigations are ongoing.
Meanwhile, troops in Maru Local Government Area repelled an attack by terrorists after receiving reinforcements. Although the attackers reportedly suffered heavy losses, three soldiers lost their lives during the encounter.
In Bakura Local Government Area, troops intercepted terrorists riding motorcycles towards vulnerable communities. A swift military response forced the suspects to abandon their mission and retreat, preventing potential attacks and ensuring the safety of residents.
The military reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining operations against criminal elements and maintaining security across the region.
