Preliminary investigations indicate that Wunuji may have been working with accomplices to intimidate residents and extort money from motorists through an illegal checkpoint he reportedly operated in the area.
The activities were said to have continued despite prior warnings from both community leaders and security agencies.
The NSCDC confirmed that the suspect has confessed to the allegations and will be charged in court accordingly.
Reiterating its commitment to maintaining law and order, the command urged members of the public to support security agencies with timely and credible information, emphasizing the importance of community intelligence in combating crime across Taraba State.
