Galatasaray forward Victor Osimhen said his team “did not play well” in Saturday’s 4-1 defeat to Samsunspor and urged his teammates to stay focused on their title push.
The Nigerian international acknowledged the team fell short of expectations at Canik 19 May Stadium but insisted the loss would not derail their championship ambitions.
Osimhen, who joined from Napoli last summer, had a mixed outing. He assisted Yunus Akgün for the opener in the ninth minute before the match turned. A poor back pass from the striker in the second half led to goalkeeper Günay Güvenç’s dismissal, compounding Galatasaray’s problems.

“Let’s not dwell on this match. We must keep pushing forward,” Osimhen told Fotomac after the game. “We need to secure a victory at home and claim the championship. Nothing has changed. The team will give its all. We’ll concentrate on the next match.”
He added: “We were aware that winning the title here would not be straightforward. Our performance was lacking as well. We will win our next home game and officially secure the championship. We apologize to the fans. We will move forward.”
Despite the setback, Osimhen has recorded 20 goals and eight assists in 32 appearances across all competitions this season.
