The Oyo State Police Command has detained singer Rolex Dee over allegations of defamation, cyberbullying and threats to life against Ibadan-based singer Taye Currency, police said Thursday.
Police said the arrest followed a petition by Taye Currency after comments Rolex Dee made during an appearance on the “Agbaletu” program circulated online.
“The suspect was alleged to have made defamatory utterances during a public programme known as Agbaletu, which subsequently gained widespread circulation online, thereby aggravating the impact of the alleged misconduct,” the command said in a statement on X.

The command said operatives tracked Rolex Dee to Lagos. Police described online reports that the singer was unlawfully arrested as “unverified reports capable of misleading the public.”
Rolex Dee is accused of defaming Currency’s character and making threats “across multiple social media platforms” after the interview gained traction, according to the police.
The case remains under investigation.
