
A devastating fire outbreak in the early hours of Wednesday has gutted parts of a business plaza along Airport Road in Kano State, destroying two hospital equipment shops.
The incident occurred at No. 20A Airport Road in Fagge Local Government Area, according to the Kano State Fire Service.
In a statement released by the agency’s Public Relations Officer, Saminu Yusif Abdullahi, the Emergency Response Unit received a distress call at about 4:01 a.m. from a resident who reported the fire.
Firefighters were immediately deployed from multiple stations across the metropolis, including Abubakar Rimi Market, Kantin Kwari, Bompai Fire Station, and the Central Fire Station, to contain the blaze.
Upon arrival, responders discovered that a two-storey commercial building measuring approximately 100 by 100 feet had already been engulfed in flames.

The fire severely affected two hospital equipment shops located on the ground floor, causing significant damage to goods and property.
Authorities confirmed that the cause of the fire is yet to be determined and is currently under investigation.
The Director of the Kano State Fire Service, Sani Anas, urged residents to remain vigilant and adopt preventive measures against fire outbreaks.
He also emphasized the importance of promptly reporting emergencies to relevant authorities.
