The Kano State Police Command successfully intervened in a violent gang clash on Monday, preventing the looting of local businesses and arresting six suspects in the Gyadi-Gyadi area.
The Incident
The chaos began around 1:20 p.m. when rival “Yan Daba” groups engaged in a violent confrontation. According to State Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the hoodlums vandalized an ambulance during the initial fray and eventually turned their aggression toward responding officers, attacking them with stones and dangerous weapons.
Escalation and Response
After being repelled by police operatives, the suspects retreated towards the Farm Centre Market, where they attempted to break into shops and loot merchandise.
However, rapid police reinforcements arrived to secure the market and disperse the mob.
