
Operatives of the Anambra State Police Command have dismantled a suspected cult hideout in Eze-Allah community, Enugwu-Ukwu, located in Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State, leading to the arrest of eight suspects and the recovery of illicit drugs.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Tochukwu Ikenga, the operation was carried out by officers of the Special Anti-Cult Unit following credible intelligence on cult-related activities in the area.
He disclosed that the raid, which took place on April 16, 2026, targeted a location long identified as a hub for criminal operations. During the exercise, eight individuals suspected to be involved in cultism were apprehended.
The suspects were identified as Chidalu Nwafor (27), Chiemerie Nwazueje (24), Chima Arwuike (25), Jideobi Emeka (26), Oliver Okonkwo (18), Izuchukwu Christian (18), Onyebuchi (21), and Walter Idouzour (44).

Police operatives also recovered quantities of suspected Cannabis Sativa and other dangerous substances believed to be linked to illegal drug use and distribution.
Ikenga noted that the spread of illicit drugs continues to fuel criminal activities, particularly among young people involved in cultism. He emphasized the need for sustained law enforcement efforts and stronger community collaboration to tackle the menace.
The police spokesperson added that the suspects are currently undergoing profiling and further investigation, after which they will be charged to court.
Reaffirming its commitment to public safety, the Command assured residents that it will continue to intensify operations against criminal hideouts and maintain pressure on hotspots across the state.
