
Tragedy struck in Plateau State on Friday as a fuel tanker explosion claimed the lives of two persons and left three others injured in Bokkos Local Government Area.
The incident occurred at a filling station in Daffo community during routine maintenance work on an underground fuel tank.
Eyewitness accounts and local sources confirmed that the victims, identified as a welder and his apprentice, were attempting to fix a leaking section of the tank when the explosion happened.
According to community leader Kefas Mallai, who spoke on the incident, the tank was believed to be empty at the time of the repair, leading the workers to proceed without anticipating any danger.

However, moments into the welding process, the tank suddenly ignited, triggering a massive explosion that killed both artisans instantly.
Three other individuals who were reportedly standing nearby observing the repairs sustained varying degrees of injuries. They have since been taken to a medical facility where they are currently receiving treatment.
As of the time of filing this report, authorities are yet to release an official statement regarding the incident, and the identities of the victims have not been formally disclosed.
