
A man identified as Chinedu Anamelechi has allegedly killed his girlfriend’s sister and injured two others in Umuanga Amakama community, located in Umuahia South Local Government Area of Abia State.
According to reports, the suspect—said to be a local security operative—fatally shot the woman, Ezinne Ariwodo. He also reportedly stabbed his girlfriend and shot a young man during the incident before fleeing the area. The reason for the attack is still unknown.
The Police Public Relations Officer for Abia State, Maureen Chinaka, confirmed the incident, stating that the injured victims were taken to a hospital where they are currently receiving treatment. The deceased was confirmed dead by medical personnel.

Chinaka added that the victim’s body has been deposited in the morgue for autopsy and preservation, and that evidence was recovered from the scene.
“Upon receiving the report, officers quickly arrived at the scene and found the victim lying in a pool of blood with gunshot wounds,” the statement said. “The injured individuals were rescued and taken to the hospital for treatment.”
She further assured residents that calm has been restored in the community and urged them not to take the law into their own hands, noting that investigations are ongoing to locate and arrest the suspect.
