
Operatives of the Sagamu Area Command under the Ogun State Police Command have arrested no fewer than 146 suspects during a large-scale coordinated raid tagged “Operation Keep Sagamu Safe.”
The operation, carried out in collaboration with community stakeholders and multiple security agencies, targeted identified crime-prone areas within Sagamu and its surrounding communities.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Deputy Superintendent of Police Oluseyi Babaseyi, the exercise was part of proactive efforts to curb rising security threats and prevent criminal activities in the area.
He disclosed that the intelligence-driven raid, conducted in the early hours of April 13, 2026, followed strategic engagements with traditional rulers, the Sagamu Local Government Council, and heads of various security outfits to strengthen joint security operations.
Babaseyi explained that the operation focused on flashpoints known for criminal activities, with the aim of maintaining public order and ensuring the safety of residents.

“The operation was jointly executed by personnel of the Nigeria Police Force, the military, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Amotekun Corps, Ogun State Community Security (So-Safe) Corps, and the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN), reflecting a unified and proactive approach to security,” he said.
He added that all arrested suspects are currently undergoing screening to determine their involvement in criminal activities.
Those found culpable will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Abeokuta for further investigation and possible prosecution.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, commended the collaboration, professionalism, and discipline displayed by the participating agencies.
He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to intelligence-led policing and sustained efforts to ensure peace and security across Ogun State.
