A University of Jos student, John Arum Azi, has surfaced in a distressing video pleading for help after being abducted by suspected kidnappers along the Kaduna route.
The video, which has been widely circulated on social media, shows the visibly shaken student appealing to his family and the public for financial assistance to secure his freedom.
Azi disclosed in the footage that he was travelling to Kaduna when he was kidnapped alongside six other passengers, bringing the total number of victims to seven.
According to reports, the video was allegedly shared on Facebook by one of his course mates, using Azi’s phone after he was forced by his captors to record the message.

The abductors are said to have demanded a ransom of N30 million for his release. Azi revealed that upon informing them of his inability to meet the demand, they threatened to kill him.
The incident has once again highlighted the persistent insecurity across northern Nigeria, particularly in the North-West region, where kidnapping for ransom remains rampant.
States including Zamfara, Katsina, Kaduna, Sokoto, Niger, and Kogi have continued to witness frequent abductions targeting travellers, students, and rural communities.
Despite repeated assurances from security agencies on efforts to curb the menace, such incidents continue to heighten public concern over safety on major highways.
As of the time of filing this report, authorities have yet to release an official statement regarding the abduction, while the victim remains in captivity.
