
The Nigerian film and television industry is in mourning following the death of Davis Offor, fondly known for his role as Clarus in the iconic sitcom The New Masquerade.
The news of his passing was confirmed by fellow actor Tony Akposheri, who starred alongside him as Zacky in the series that defined an era of Nigerian television.
In an emotional tribute on Facebook, Akposheri shared his shock and sorrow, recalling their recent moments together.
“Today, my heart is heavy. Davis Offor, fondly known as Clarus from New Masquerade, is gone,” he wrote. “We crossed into the New Year together, laughing, talking, sharing memories, and speaking hopefully about the days ahead.
None of us knew that time was already counting differently for you.”
Describing Offor as more than just a colleague, Akposheri highlighted his warmth, humour, and vibrant personality.

“You were more than a familiar face on screen. You were a friend, a brother, a man with warmth, humour, and a presence that could light up any space,” he added.
As of now, the cause of Davis Offor’s death has not been publicly disclosed, and funeral arrangements are yet to be announced.
Davis Offor rose to prominence through The New Masquerade, a sitcom that captured audiences with its humour and memorable characters.
His portrayal of Clarus brought laughter to countless Nigerian homes and cemented his place as one of the defining faces of early Nigerian television.
