Nigerian singer Aituaje Vivian Ebele Iruobe, popularly known as Waje, has opened up about a personal struggle she faced in her early career: insecurity about her body.
In a recent episode of the Her Next Chapter podcast hosted by Tope Olowoniyan, the 44-year-old singer revealed that she used to wear three bras at once in her 20s.
Waje explained that she felt uncomfortable with her physique, especially her chest, which she felt was too heavy. “Even before I had my child, I have always been heavy at the top.
I used to hide it. In my 20s, I used to wear like three bras. I was very uncomfortable about how heavy I was at the top,” she confessed.

Over time, Waje said, she grew more confident and learned to embrace her body. Motherhood, she added, also shifted her perspective, helping her to accept and appreciate herself.
The singer credited friends, including rapper M.I and professional dancer Kaffy, for encouraging her and helping her develop a “thick skin” against negative comments and public scrutiny.
Reflecting on her journey, Waje said, “It took time, but I eventually stopped worrying about what others thought. Confidence and self-acceptance changed everything.”
Her candid revelation is resonating with many fans, highlighting the universal struggle with body image and the importance of self-love.
