
Fast-rising Nigerian singer Shallipopi has opened up about the difficult experiences he endured while trying to establish himself in the music industry, alleging that several fellow artists mistreated him during his early days.
The “Ex-Convict” crooner revealed that between 2023 and 2024, when he was still struggling to gain recognition, many of his colleagues were far from welcoming.
According to him, instead of receiving support, he was met with hostility and disrespect.
In a post shared on his social media page, the singer expressed his frustration, claiming that numerous artists “poured spit” on him during that period.

He noted that those experiences have shaped his personality, making him tougher and more guarded.
Despite the challenges, Shallipopi eventually broke into the mainstream after his hit single Elon Musk went viral.
The track’s remix, featuring Zlatan Ibile and Fireboy DML, further propelled him into the spotlight and solidified his place in the industry.
The singer has previously credited Zlatan for playing a significant role in his rise, revealing that the rapper supported his career without demanding anything in return.
