A lawyer representing Sophia Momodu in her custody battle with singer Davido over their daughter, Imade, has demanded N1 billion in damages from the artiste, citing alleged defamation, harassment and cyberbullying.
In a letter dated February 24, Ebelechukwu Enedah accused Davido, born David Adeleke, of actions she said damaged her professional reputation and subjected her to online abuse and threats.
Enedah, a partner at PUNUKA Attorneys & Solicitors with more than 20 years of post-call experience, stated that the singer’s remarks caused significant reputational harm, emotional distress and fear for her safety and that of her family. She described Davido’s alleged reference to her as “the worst lawyer ever” as a malicious attempt to undermine her professional standing.
The dispute follows a tense court session in February over custody of Imade. Shortly after the hearing, Davido announced on social media that he was withdrawing his custody application. He had earlier criticised Enedah for allegedly mentioning his late son during proceedings, calling it a “low blow,” and shared her name online.

In her letter, Enedah stressed that issues concerning the custody and welfare of a minor should not be subjected to public commentary or social media attention. She demanded that Davido immediately refrain from making any further statements about her or the ongoing case while it remains before the court.
The lawyer also called for a public apology and retraction to be published on Davido’s verified social media accounts and in at least two national newspapers. Additionally, she asked that he instruct his followers and associates to cease any harassment, threats or intimidation directed at her.
The letter warned that failure to comply within seven days would result in legal action at the Lagos State High Court to pursue the N1 billion compensation and other remedies.
