Etinosa Idemudia reveals expectations for second marriage -

Nigerian actress and filmmaker Etinosa Idemudia has said she is open to getting married again, but only to a man who meets her specific expectations.

Speaking on the Nollywood on Radio podcast, the mother of one reflected on life after separating from her daughter’s father and shared her thoughts on love and remarriage.

When asked if she would consider tying the knot again, she responded, “Never say never.”

According to her, she would only remarry if she finds a man who is kind and generous in every sense. She explained that generosity, to her, goes beyond finances and includes time, emotional support, and availability. However, she emphasized that financial stability is non-negotiable.

“If I see a kind, generous man, I will remarry,” she said, adding that her future partner must be financially secure and have a steady source of income. She also noted that she is no longer interested in “building” with a man from scratch, saying past experiences have shaped her current standards.

The filmmaker also addressed broader issues within Nollywood, particularly the increasing reliance on YouTube as a distribution platform for movies.

She argued that the trend is negatively affecting the industry’s revenue model. Comparing it to piracy, she said the availability of free films on YouTube discourages viewers from paying for cable subscriptions and streaming services, which she believes offer more sustainable returns for filmmakers.

While acknowledging the global shift toward digital platforms, she maintained that YouTube’s current payment structure does not adequately reward Nigerian filmmakers.

“People are celebrating views here and there, but are they also celebrating money? Are we really making the kind of money our films deserve?” she asked.

Idemudia further called for stronger action against piracy and urged industry stakeholders to rethink distribution strategies. She suggested exploring alternatives such as community cinemas to boost earnings, noting that cinema revenues have declined as more producers prioritize YouTube releases.

According to her, a more strategic approach to distribution could significantly improve filmmakers’ financial outcomes.
