
Tragedy struck in Maiyama, Kebbi State, as five worshippers were killed and three others injured during an attack on a mosque in Dadin Kowa community.
The Kebbi State Police Command revealed that suspected members of the Lakurawa terrorist group carried out the assault during Taraweeh prayers at around 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
Police Public Relations Officer, Bashir Usman, described the attack as a reprisal, noting that the assailants fled into the bush before security forces arrived. Military personnel, local vigilantes, and police were deployed immediately to restore order.

Residents suspect the attack may be linked to recent security operations targeting the group’s hideouts and a failed ambush on a military convoy.
This incident comes just a week after Lakurawa fighters allegedly killed dozens in Arewa Local Government Area.
The police have condoled with the victims’ families and the Maiyama community over the tragic loss.
