Walida Abdulhadi Ibrahim, a native of Jigawa State was handed over to Governor Umar Namadi by the Department of State Services (DSS) on Wednesday night.
Walida, who went missing in 2023, was allegedly abducted and sexually exploited by a DSS officer, Ifeanyi Onyewuenyi, with whom she gave birth to a baby girl in November 2025
Authorities say the officer may have abused their position, and law enforcement has initiated steps to ensure a thorough inquiry.
The case has drawn significant public attention, highlighting concerns about the protection of vulnerable individuals and the accountability of public officials.
Investigators have assured that the matter is being handled with urgency and in accordance with the law.
Child protection agencies and advocacy groups have urged that the investigation proceed transparently and that all appropriate safeguards are put in place to protect the minor involved.

The DSS director-general, Adeola Oluwatosin Ajayi, confirmed Onyewuenyi is in custody and will face investigation. Various civil society organizations and Muslim groups had demanded Walida’s release, citing concerns over her welfare and potential conflict of interest with the DSS
