Massacre in Kaiama LGA: 75 Residents Slain for Rejecting ‘Strange Doctrine’

KAIAMA, Kwara State – At least 75 residents of Woro and Nuku villages in Kaiama Local Government Area were killed in a brutal attack after refusing to adopt a “strange doctrine,” Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has revealed.

Speaking during a visit to the affected communities on Wednesday, accompanied by security officials and cabinet members, Governor AbdulRazaq described the massacre as a “cowardly expression of frustration” by extremists.

According to reports, gunmen stormed the villages on Tuesday evening, rounding up residents, binding their hands, and opening fire indiscriminately.

The police confirmed the attack began around 6 p.m., adding that investigations into missing persons are ongoing.

Governor AbdulRazaq said the violence was triggered by the villagers’ refusal to abandon their faith for a perverted form of Islamic doctrine.

“These villagers stood firm in their beliefs, and for that, they were mercilessly attacked,” he stated.
In response to the incident, President Bola Tinubu has approved the immediate deployment of an army battalion under Operation Savannah Shield to launch counter-offensives against the perpetrators.

The governor commiserated with survivors, praying for the souls of the victims, and assured that security agencies would continue to protect residents against such attacks.

Police and military personnel have been deployed to the area, and authorities are working to ensure the safety of remaining villagers.
