Adamawa Man Arrested for Killing Brother; Police Recover AK-47

The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a man suspected of killing his elder brother in Gombi Local Government Area (LGA).


The suspect, Abubakar Sadiq, 40, of Boga Village, was apprehended following credible intelligence, the police said in a statement released on Wednesday.

The killing of his elder brother, Alhaji Sadiq Boga, occurred on January 20, 2026.
During interrogation, Abubakar reportedly confessed to the crime and led operatives to recover weapons, including an AK-47 rifle and 24 rounds of live ammunition.

He also identified two accomplices, Jalo Hamiyu, 35, and Umar Baba, 41, both residents of Fotta Village in Gombi LGA.

A joint team of police operatives, professional hunters, and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force later raided the suspects’ hideouts.

The two accomplices reportedly opened fire on the team, resulting in a gun duel that led to their deaths. Additional weapons recovered at the scene included a locally made single-barrel rifle and a Dane gun.


The police confirmed that efforts were ongoing to arrest other fleeing members of the criminal network. Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, commended the professionalism and bravery of the operatives involved and reassured residents of the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property.


The arrested suspect and any remaining accomplices are expected to face prosecution in court upon completion of the investigation.
